Need something for a ton of media to go on, to take away with me. Thinking 2.5", so I don't have to faff with power cables. Anyone got any ideas, or are they all much of a muchness. Want to keep costs lowish, but needs to be AT LEAST 500gig.

I know Samsung do a bunch of 500Gb 2.5s in various styles and cases for around the £50-55 mark.

Well yesterday, I was advised to buy a caddy and drive separately. That way, I get to keep one if the other needs replacing. Which kinda makes sense, but that means I'm looking at USB3 I guess...

I was thinking along those lines before, but usually it doesn't half add to the price, unless you're willing to spend the time doing online 'research' Do you really need USB3 at this point? I personally don't find myself copying that much data from device to device, and even then I just go and pour myself something or open another tab in FireFox

I got a Western Digital. It's small and sleek (plain black) and is powered by the USB socket. I'm sure it's this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166652?ut ... m=products

I do like to look of WD external drives, but looking at Scan's prices, they seem to be more expensive than the competition for the 500GB & 1TB drives.
