Boah! Just been looking at the Apple Store prices in the UK, man are they cheap there! I can save €50 on a iPod Touch 32GB, nearly 200 on a 17" MBP, even the 13" is nearly €100 cheaper. Just a shame there isn't an Apple Store in Alton... And that I don't have any money at the moment...

Yes - I’ve been watching the steady rise of the price of petrol recently. I’m not sure people have noticed, what with the other news we’ve been having. It’s now nudged over £1 a litre a few weeks back here, and is starting to creep towards 105p. In a recession, we surely need to have cheap transport to allow goods to be moved around affordably, help those people who are working to get to work, etc..

The government has re-imposed the delayed (and future) fuel-duty rises, so fuel prices are going up as a result. As for kicking big_D out, we can't, he's an EU citizen and is entitled to stay permanently.

Fortunately the EU is a two way street, making it easy to get out of here!

Hey, I come from southern England! It was meant in jest, but I was surprised how much more expensive Apple products are here, after constantly hearing rip-off Britain.

It's such a shame all these cheaper prices and no sod has any jobs or money. This is when we need the EU to work for us bring in tourists to buy our stuff.
Don't forget VAT goes back up to the old rate at the end of the month.

Lol I know you're English big_D! I didn't mean to imply otherwise. We're all EU citizens still though.

Huh? I thought it was the end of November. It was supposed to run for a year when it was introduced. EDIT: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7757854.stmIt's 15% until the end of December this year.

Rip off Britain more generally refers to price comparisons between the UK and the USA, least that's what I always assumed.

Quite right. It seemed to be normal practice for American companies like MS and Apple to just change the currency from $ to £ but keep the numbers the same, even when it was $2 to the pound. However, the EU seems to be more expensive again. Still, it's a good time to be buying a macbook - seen the bottom macbook 13" going for £800 in PC World and the plastic one for £650.
