I think my ISP is throttling streaming video to 0bps, but I thought I'd ask here.

Anyone else having trouble with iPlayer?

Here's my result from the BBC diagnostic page:

I'm with F2S, part of Pipex, part of Tiscali, now Car Phone Warehouse. I have their top unlimited package.

Everything has been working fine here, and I'm with plus.net

Thanks for the reply. I think plus.net are BT, so I'm really wishing I hadn't changed over.

When my old ISP vanished on me, Tiscali fed me a load of lies and succeeded in conning me into jumping ship

I'm with BT and iPlayer and YouTube are all but unusable between 5pm and midnight, and most of the day on Saturday & Sunday.

LOL, maybe I wouldn't have been any better staying with Mailbox (we don't know what we're doing) Networks / 186K (we didn't pay Tiscali and got cut off) broadband when they went over to BT then

Nick - are you LLU? I think that makes a massive difference.

plus.net are part of BT, but we really don't suffer with any slow downs from 5-12. Then again, I'm on a different exchange so there are too many variables.

I wouldn't have the foggiest idea about whether we're LLU or not JJ, but I suspect not - it's a pretty small exchange. Is there any way I can find out?

I'm at the end of the tether with the shoddy service. I wrote a letter to BT asking them if they seriously expect me to pay for such a (lack of) service. I have yet to get my reply.

I'm not an LLU customer, according to that website only Orange have their kit in my local exchange.

Plusnet is actually owned by BT (according to wiki), but the fact your exchange is LLU means that everyone else is on a different back-bone so the contention is massively reduced.

It's now 1am, and my Internets are fast! I just torrented 350MB in 2 minutes while watching a streaming preview.

If I could just find a job that meant I was at work from 5pm - 1am then it would be fine :?

I've got one! Actually that's a lie, but I did have one.

Was working in a bar so I would get home anywhere between 1-4am depending on day of the week and my shift. :)

As a point of interest are you guys, (who are having problems) watching streamed video via iPlayer or downloading and watching the locally saved version?

Streaming, as per my OP:

I'll try the download thing when there's a Linux version.
