I find myself having to make a DVD of a movie I made for a school. Movie edited in iMovie, and exported to iDVD. In the iDVD preview, it looks really good, but when I burn a disk, it looks really, really blocky.

I’ve tried a number of movie sizes, thinking that resolution could be a factor (in fact in one case it was as scaling down from 720p caused additional Moire patterns). Right now, I’m trying NONE for compression, and 16:9 SD resolution.

I am rather shocked - I am sure that last time I did such an exercise I got better results. I’m wasting DVDs each time I do a burn too.

Have you tried burning it in Toast?

Got Toast Basic kicking around somewhere, I think.

Anyway, I’ve done another disk, and it plays choppily on the DVD player, but it seems OK on the PS3. Will locate Toast serial number to try that.

Try watching a DVD on your machine. It could be a problem with the drive rather than IDVD.

Used Toast, and got a far better result than with iDVD.

DVD Playback on my machine is fine.
