Hi
This might be a reasonably easy question to answer, but is it easy to unlock an iPhone from a network? I ask as my 3G is getting slooowww so I'm thinking about getting a used iP4, maybe just as a stop-gap until numero 5 - or to keep going for longer maybe. (Used is all I can really afford at the moment).
I just wanted to check that should I find a bargain (yeah, unlikely I know) which is locked to a network other than mine, if it was pretty straightforward to do?
Thanks
Ben

Are iPhone 4's networked locked? I though that now pretty much all the major networks are carrying the handset network locking was a thing of the past. *shrug* Anyway, if it was network locked, I suspect you'd just have to jailbreak the device, unless a friendly phone call to the network got you what you wanted. I've never jailbroken an iPhone, so I've no personal experience with how easy or otherwise it might be.

Looking at the listings, some will say they are locked to a particular network - I presume these are ones which have come from a contract? If they're not, then cool - I just wondered if it was easy... Hopefully I'll be able to get and O2 or factory unlocked one anyway!

If you contact the network who it's locked to with the IMEI number they'll unlock it for you. Legally with no jailbreaks needed

Would that be somewhere on the phone/box?

This is a good tip - it works on any phone, regardless of make, model, or network.
