I can see the dual core being useful. My Desire isn't quite as fast as it once was as I'd loaded the desktop down with loads of widgets.

The 8MP camera is a pointless upgrade. There's no point increasing the MP if it's still a cheap, slow sensor that blurs each photo.

I'm in two minds about the screen. Sure the higher res screen of the Sensation would be nice, but I wouldn't want a phone any bigger physically than the Desire. If the took the original Desire (including teh bottoms, finish etc), made it dual core, kept the screen size but increased the screen res, then it would be the perfect mobile phone.

My first thought on receiving the Desire HD was "I thought HD meant it was going to have a HD screen? This thing is just BIG!"

I was very disappointed. Nice for watching video and the size is handy for people with fat fingers, but I really wanted a higher resolution. Doing things like RDC or even just browsing the web, you'd be able to actually get a full screen's worth on it without it descending into pixel bricks.

The extra speed would also be welcome. I've only had "normal" Nokia phones before, so I'm not used to a phone being slow and unresponsive. Drives me nuts. "I did click that didn't I? Nothings happened... should I wait? Click - d'oh! now it's done it twice and crashed the damned thing again..."

Unfortunately there's no way I'm going to get an upgrade for at least two years - not at these prices

Looks like a nice phone and I wouldnt mind the upgrade in screen resolution. My initial thought was that it was a dual core CPU. Reading the article though it says it has dual CPUs

I agree with the camera comments. The 8MP one on my DesireHD takes nice clear pictures. Of perfectly still things. As soon as something moves then forget it. Taking pictures of Emily is almost impossible.

My initial though was how are they going to pull this off battery-wise.
4.3" is massive anyway, I think you would get this if you are looking for a toy, not a phone for serious tasks...

I've got the HTC HD2 and that's got a 4.3" screen, which I don't think is too large.

Looks, physically, almost identical to my htc 7 Mozart. I wouldn't mind the higher resolution display and the dual core processor, although WP7 doesn't really need it, yet.

True, maybe powdercoating could be an alternative then. Cheap as chips...
