hi all,
i had a system crash and purchased a new hard disk and have reinstalled windows etc etc.

i have the old hard disk as a slave drive on the pc.

on this slave drive i have found various folders which i cannot get access to

"System Volume Information" for example

I have tried to set the attributes -H and -S but still cannot delete this folder.

does anyone have any ideas as to how I might remove this? i have a suspiscion it may contain malware

regards

Alan

Right click the volume & take ownership of it.
Give yourself full control & then delete what you like

How about copying the stuff you need onto your new HDD (and asuming no info you need is in these protected folders) and then formatting the old one

+1. You also help to mitigate against fragmentation issues.

If you just want to delete them then try installing a little program called "unlocker" http://download.cnet.com/Unlocker/3000- ... 93998.html

That should then let you highlight the file and using unlocker force-delete it.

I don't want to come across as being too negative but... Oh good, another program to slow Windows down that little bit more!
