A guest at a recent event I photographed was wearing Reactolite glasses, it was sunny... you can guess the rest. On many of the photos, they are so dark he looks like 007, and not in a good way! He was very shortsighted so there was no way he'd lose them.

I've got a lot of headroom with the RAW and 16-bit images, so does anyone have good recommendations/actions for retouching to lightening the lenses? At the moment I'm just toying with a selection and then uping the midtone levels, which seems a bit hit and miss (and very time consuming, the issue being obviously the area behind the glasses won't look very natural and will differ on each shot. I'm using CS3 Extended.

I think you're probably going to have to go down the route of doing a manual selection of the lenses, and adjusting the various brightness, midtones, probably even shadows to bring them all up. Might even be worth having a look at the Shadows/Highlights panel.
And you're going to have to be consistent across each image - which isn't going to be easy.

I suspect reactolites are polarising too, so from frame to frame the affect's going to be different depending on the lighting.
I think you may end up having to dodge some of the shadows around the lens as well? I'd imagine they're a bit darker than if they'd just been normal lenses.

Thanks Prof, looks like it'll be a tedious few days. Will give the Shadow and Highlights a look after I've created the TIFFs from the RAW files. I'll also cross post on another photo forum and see if there are any tips.
