Hi all,

In the next week I'm going to be leaving work. I'd really like to save all of my emails I've collected over the year to go through them at my leisure and pick out ones I want to keep (I've got a number of lecture notes on various subjects, a few contact details I want to keep, all hidden amongst 3000 notifications, and other cr@p)

Will Mail allow me to save all my mail and go through it later? I've no idea what'll happen when I leave. I'm guessing Mail will fail to authenticate as my user account is deleted, or (perhaps worse) Mail will authenticate and find the mail server has no mail and all my mail will be deleted (I use IMAP).

Thanks all :)

Ben

In that case you'll be safest to create a copy of all of your folders under 'On My Mac' in Mail. Mail does cache the IMAP folders (so the copy should be quite quick) but if your access fails it will slow things down a lot.

It's actually all stored in ~/Library/Mail as test files, but I assume you'd be happier accessing them in mail rather than otherwise.

That's interesting...I might have to have a look later...But yes, it'll probably be nicer to sort it all in Mail.

Cheers Jon :)
