Our broadcasting unit want to remote on to a mac. Before we go out and buy Apple Rmote Desktop does anyone know of any free software that works well? He's tried VNC and isn't happy with it and this is a machine with no keyboard or mouse so there's no one sitting on it to say yes accept connection.

Also does anyone know if you can remote from a PC to mac? I do it the other way and have used web sites to do it..

Thanks

Carolyn

VNC should do it. You also have Screen Sharing and Back To My Mac which can do this from the Finder window.

VNC is better - anything with a VNC client can access the Macs (including iOS devices). Remote Desktop does allow for more in depth system admin - such as software installing etc.. That may be more up your long-term street.

My Mac Pro doesn't require the user to say "accept" for incoming connections...

In the sharing prefs I've got "Screen Sharing" ticked, then only allow "Ben Lavery". In the "Computer Settings" I've added a password that connecting clients must input.

If it's got web access then logmein would work.

As per saspro, LogMeIn is excellent, I've been using it on Windows for over 4 years, and I know it's good very on the Mac too. The free version does most of what you'll need too: https://secure.logmein.com/UK/
