Hi all,
I've ordered 4x2GB of DDR2 RAM, but I can't find a motherboard with four DIMM slots. I can see plenty with two DDR2 slots and two DDR3 slots, but that is obviously no use to me...
My price range is as cheap as possible to about £70 and must be able to handle a C2Q Q8300 CPU. Can anyone recommend me a board?
Thanks very much, Ben

You're probably going to be looking at second hand. I did have a board that would have been perfect up until about 3 days ago but a guy at work has just had it.

Hmmm, may I ask what model you had? I'll be scouring eBay!
I found what looked like the perfect board, the picture showed four DIMM slots, but the description said two...

Mine was a 680i board. I'd expect any of the decent S775 chipsets to have 4 slots; 680, 780, P45, X48 etc. (think those are the right numbers).

I've managed to get a second hand "ASUS P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i SLI Intel 775 DDR2 ATX MOTHERBOARD" for a little over £80.
I'm really surprised that two DIMM socket 775 mobo's are still quite common, while four DIMM equivalents aren't...

It's because all the 'serious' users have moved on to 1155 and 1366 etc. All you've got left are a smattering of boards that are aimed more at the HTPC market as they don't really require the grunt of a full machine.

My 775 board I just got rid of (Asus P5K Premium WiFi/AP) had 4.
