Steve Jobs has confirmed that iWeb will be discontinued as part of the iCloud release...

I've started using Flux and it's pretty good.

Nothing I've found has the simplicity of iWeb (though that's never been a major feature for me) though.

Unlikely if you don't remember. They brought out a new version just before Christmas I think. The upgrade fee is relatively reasonable though. Plus they've had it in various bundles recently too, so you may have a V5 licence in there if you're lucky.

I originally bought it as part of a big bundle. I have kept the license details so can upgrade if necessary. My license is for 4.4.2 but can wait till it comes in another bundle if necessary.

Unless I have the wrong end of the stick here (entirely possible) iWeb won't magically stop working on everyone's Mac just because it's discontinued - it's just the one-click 'publish my site' option that won't work anymore on account of iDisk disappearing; you should still be able to publish an iWeb site to a folder, or another hosting service, no?

Yes, you can. However, you won't get any of the MobileMe stuff - galleries, blogs, comments etc., unless Apple release code for use on other servers, which I guess is highly unlikely.

I think it's well worth investigating alternatives depending on your needs - Wordpress, Joomla, Freeway, RapidWeaver, etc.. You have a year.

You could still use iWeb, it will still work.

What you won’t get is all the MobileMe server site stuff like blog feedback, forms, etc..
