Ah yes, I didn't realise it'd come round to the 14th so quickly.
I actually can't wait for the release. I''ll be purchasing it and upgrading straight away.
If you want any feedback on upgrade stability I'll let you know... hopefully.

I'll be hanging on for a week or so. I'm doing a rebuild of my entertainment gear soon and I'm putting in a Mac Mini as a media PC. Strikes me the 'full screen view' in the likes of mail and safari would be really useful for a 'couch PC' so I'm going to install it on there first. Plus I won't be using it as my main PC, so if Lion breaks anything it won't be too much of a trauma. Jon

Lion seems to be out very soon, though I might wait for a while before I upgrade that. Personally I am waiting for an 1080p version of the Apple TV next.

Luckily I'm at a point where breaking things wouldn't be too disruptive. One would think Mail, Chrome, and iTunes will still work, so my workflow remains the same. The same couldn't have been said just over a year ago, if it had somehow broken VirtualBox I could have waved goodbye to my diss...

This has now changed.
The supposed Mac Pro model numbers are now thought to be White MacBooks and Mac Minis.
So now we have MacBook Airs, White MacBooks and Mac Minis coming this week.

A MBA does not appeal to me right now. Between an imac and an iPad I have the power of a decent machine and the flexibility and mobility of the iPad. Maybe in future it might appeal.

+1. The niche a laptop previously filled is now overlapped quite nicely. I bought the current mac mini because I needed one with a FW port on it (I have a high quality video digitiser I'm hooking up to it that inputs via FB) and I assume the new ones, whenever they turn up, will have tbolt ports rather than FW. I suppose I could have got the current one at a bit of a discount as it goes EoL after the new one shows up but I couldn't be bothered to wait tbh. Jon

I'm torn. Sometimes I need mobility and power, sometimes I just need pure mobility (for pure power there is the Mac Pro). A laptop covered the former while an iPad would cover the latter, but I can't justify both atm, and I'm a poor judge of what I need when...

I won’t. Better check here to see if any application your rely on works in Lion first. For me, I’ll need to upgrade at least Illustrator, so it’s not a cheap £20 purchase for me.

Same here. I will want to see that the programs that I want to sue all work. There are still a few that are still not working properly according to the list of tested apps.

As I said, as long as Chrome and Mail works, that's me sorted. I'd imagine that Mail would be fine, as would my other usual apps (ssh, vim, some other command line tools). I'm really in a position where I don't really do much at all with my Macs...
