New MBA and they have removed the MacBook from the line up too! Looks like the MBA is the new MB. Oh... and a new Mac Mini including one with Lion Server (I thought Lion Server was all part of the same OS as the normal Lion stuff. It was according to the keynote anyway.)

Yep. At £850 the new MBA would've competed too closely with the now old MacBook, so I guess one of them had to go. Mark

They've also added a "Compare Macs" section which IIRC wasn't there before today.

Also the MB compared badly to the conventional PC laptops in terms of price.

I hadn't noticed the MacBook lackingness...
Also, the Mini is lacking a optical drive! It looks sexy, in fact it all looks damn sexy.

Well if all future upgrades are via download you can avoid a drive completely. Though I do like the option of playing a DVD.

Lion pages (as of today only) say they'll be selling Lion from Apple shops on a USB stick from next month. Costs more though. Jon

Nice idea, though very prone to thefts I suspect. You get a free USB stick at the least.

Depends on what you mean, we get an quivalently specced laptop from our supplier for under 400€, so the 999€ for the MB was a bit steep. The MBP is as well, my last laptop (a Sony Vaio) cost a third of the closest 17" MBP at the time (the MBP didn't have an option for a quad core i7 processor at the time). The Air doesn't look bad, but given how much my iMac crawls with only 2GB RAM, I'd be apprehensive to buy an Air with only 2GB (or the new Mini for that matter). The air is very tempting, apart from I already have a decent notebook and will be looking at the desktop next.

I think that the desktops offer reasonable value especially if you already have a mac. Though the macbooks were very pricey compared to the PC market. The MBP are still expensive but then it is not just a laptop it can also be a fashion statement. Last year when I bought my iMacs I maxed the memory that I could afford and would last me till I replaced them. I thought 8 Gb each was enough.
