The behaviour of the TAB key has changed in Safari 5.1 and I can't figure out how to revert it back to what it was. Basically, in Safari 5.0.X, if I pressed the TAB key once it took me to the 'Preview' option when making a new post on these forums (just as an example), pressing twice took me to the 'Submit' button. Now, pressing the key once from the message composition window, it takes me to the 'Font size' drop-down box. I don't see a preference to change the behaviour back to what it previously was. Does anyone here know how I can do that?

Not that it's very helpful, but Safari 5.1 on a PC still tabs the way you would expect it to. My first thought was that maybe you were leaning on the shift key and tabbing backwards!
The tab index is determined by the web page and should be independent of the browser. The default follows the normal reading order of left to right, up to down although it can be modified using tabindex. This is a requirement for accessibility and it would be bizarre to modify it.

I'm on 5.1 on Lion and it works correctly for me.
One press takes me to "Preview" and two presses takes me from the editor box to "Save".
The only way I can get from the editor box to font-size drop down is to hold down TAB and go through about 20-30 other buttons before it gets there.

Yeah, still on Snow Leopard here. I'll go through the prefs again today now I'm properly awake and see if that makes a difference. Mark

Alex, Option+TAB restores correct functionality, but it's a pain in the arse having to retrain my brain to do that. *sigh*

The only thing it broke was 1Password for me, and I've not been using that for ages. AdBlock, on the other hand, is fine. One of the perils of being an early adopter is that stuff tends to break. Which is why I'm probably going to wait for 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 of Lion before I go down that road. I've found doing this: Means that when I hit Tab from this text box, I go to the Preview button not the Font Size menu.
