Hello all.
I have recently been having a few problems with my htpc and am looking for a little help.
The machine has been running well for a couple of years despite its very budget origins but is now giving me gip ..
It is cased in an antec fusion with the bundled psu.
Currently there is an old abit mb and athlon 3800+ dual core processor.
I have added a BD Drive & cheapo nvidea 210 hdmi (i think) gpu but the machine now will only run for about 40 minutes before freezing.
I have tried reseating ram, reseating the heat sink (arctic silver removed & re-applied) , removing one of the 2 HD's etc but it still randomly freezes.
So i have decided to replace MB & Processor with a shiny new i3 & associated MB but this is where i become unstuck. I have not bought components in years and don't really know which MB to go for.
I need matx, onboard HDMI graphics suitable for BD playback, a few usbs, 1 8x pcie slot 3 sata sockets and good support for sleep / hibernate etc.
This machine is used to record freesat / freeview, play back mkvs and play the odd blu-ray disk.
I would like to keep the board under £100 .. can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Didge.

As I'm currently reading a lot about USB3 recently, that might be something to remember :|

TBH ernie, I'm not sure I need USB 3 on this machine. It will simply be a media machine and I have 3 or 4 FW800 drives that I would be more likely to implement before buying new externals.

Thanks for the reply though.

Didge.
