The tablets looked interesting especially the Sony P tablet. Definitely different but will it succeed? Not so sure about that. Fab 21:9 tv's just dreading the prices.

The tablets are interesting.

Having used a few Android 3.1/3.2 tablets lately and an iPad at the same time, I have to say, Android has come a long way. It feels more modern and easier to use as the iPad. The Acer Iconia I used also felt smoother in operation than the iPad standing next to it.

A lack of Tablet apps will hold Android back, a bit, in the short term, but they have certainly given Apple something to think about.

I do agree that there need to be more Android apps. Though I doubt that Apple are worrying yet. I do want there to be more competition in the Tablet market.

Out of interest, what apps do you feel are significant by their absence on the Android platform? I've never failed to find something free that does what I want, without even having to look at the paid-for apps.

I am not an Android user, or likely to be. The thing is that the Android market will need a range of apps so that it can compete with iOS. It is up to developers and customers what they want. I want Apple to have a strong competitor so that even Apple have to improve their iOS.

Just off the top of my head,

LinkedIn - there is a phone version, but no tablet version
Facebook - there is a phone version, but no tablet version (just checked again, "FreindCaster" is available in Beta)
Seesmic - there is a phone version, but no tablet version
Angry Birds - there is a phone version, but no tablet version

At least there is a Kindle app.

It isn't that there aren't apps for Android, it is the same as when the iPad was released, there are few tablet apps out there, most are either phone apps or apps that have been recompiled for the tablet, without a thought about making them more suitable for a tablet interface.

Like the iPad, it will take a little time, until "real" tablet apps start to appear in large numbers.
