Hi all, I run 64-bin Ubuntu 11.04 at work (I can post specs later if needs be), and sometimes I come in of a morning and the screensaver has frozen, I can't SSH into the box, and I need to cut the power to restart it. I think it may have something to do with the network as when my box goes down, so does our little Ubuntu 32-bit 11.04 'server'. Under OS X and Solaris I'd know where to start looking, but everything is quite alien under Ubuntu. Can anyone suggest where I should start looking? Cheers, Ben |

The first place I'd look is the ACPI settings. That said, I've had problems before with the screensavers themselves and had to go without. |

ACPI in the BIOS? Or in Ubuntu? Also, would anything significant be happening in a log file somewhere? I'm not sure where to look. |

Sorry for the dearth of posting. Just lately I seem to be having real problems with energy levels. Consequently my brain and google-fu are both very weak. However, off the top of my head, I would start by
If that doesn't work there are other possibilities but, right now, brainy no worky. Sorry ![]() |
