Got my 4S today. Just transferring apps etc. Forgot to port my number - if I'd done it before 1530, it'd have been ready by tomorrow. As it stands, I'm looking to get it done Wednesday.

Anyway, 3GS had an Otterbox Defender case. Yes it makes the phone bulkier and a tad cumbersome, but I've dropped the phone 3-4 times from a height of 3-4ft straight onto concrete pavement without damage to the case or phone. Hence, I'm waiting for Otterbox to release the 4S version in the UK.

In the meanwhile, any recommendations for cases? Perhaps something that can be used instead of the otterbox? Or something relatively cheap that I can use whilst waiting for the Otterbox?

Seeing as it's the same case, the iPhone 4 case should fit?: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OtterBox-Defend ... pd_cp_ce_2

I've dropped my iPhone 4 more times than I care to remember (from various heights onto concrete/balast/etc), mostly with the free Apple "band" case (only goes around the sides/top/bottom). I've got one 2mmx1mm knick in the screen right on the very corner of the right hand edge, and a slight scuff on the top. I'd say the iPhone 4 case is pretty sturdy myself...

There are slight design differences between the 4S and 4 otterbox cases.

You have a nick in the screen and a scuff. My 3GS has none of these (AFAIK - will have to crack open the protective shell to find out).

I like the Switcheasy cases, though as with Otterbox they seem a bit slow getting themselves up to speed for the 4s. The 'Capsule Rebel' and 'Reptile' cases have a tough Lexan frame that protects the back and sides of the phone really well, and all the Switcheasy cases come with a couple of very good screen protectors. I've dropped mine a few times onto solid floors, and they've been generally used in and around building sites without incident. Recommended.

Cool. My sister bought herself an iPhone4s and managed to nab some free cases, so don't have to worry about anything now.

Not a fan of the screen protector stickers. I have a casemate case "barely there" which is anything but.

Think I'll leave it on for now and wait for the 4S defender to come out.
