Hey folks, This is also in the Wanted forum, but I thought I best post it here to grab the attention of those who don't peruse that particular forum . Basically I need a copy of OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for a Mac G4 tower. If you have one available, please PM me. I will pay monies! I'm not sure if it's got a CD or DVD drive (still waiting to hear back), so my current preference is for a CD or CDs (whichever is appropriate). Thanks in advance!

Actually, I have a feeling the CD version might be rather rare. IIRC, they sold 10.4 as a DVD only and you got a voucher in the box that you could send off to get the CD version if you needed it. So unless someone actually did that, there won't be any CD versions around to be had. Jon

Hm, in that case I'll also risk a DVD option if anyone has one. I will still pay monies .

Out of interest, is it legal to trade second hand copies of OSX? Does it say "Not for resale" on it?
As far as Apple are concerned, you may as well just get a copy from the bay of men with parrots and pieces of eight.

At least an official Apple CD is guaranteed to be free of nasties, although the quality of stuff on the bay is generally quite good (so I hear ).

Oh I'm not faulting your request, just wondering what the Ts & Cs were. It used to be illegal to sell second hand books and records, so many charity shops were actually dens of financial iniquity. I'm unsure if the law has changed, but I think the RRP price-fixing scam has ended at least.

As far as I'm aware, so long as the original installation is no longer in place (ie you've removed it from your Mac in the process of upgrading), then you're free to sell the CDs/DVDs. Not that Apple really care either way as they don't check that the OS is installed on only one computer.
We're talking Apple here, not Microsoft!

Hold the 'phone, I may be interested in acquiring Leopard instead (see Mac Hardware).

No license keys ftw! I love it.
And it works too. I've purchased a retail copy of OS X, and bought a machine with it installed. I've always used pirate versions of Windows. That kinda tells you something, I think.
