Over the last couple of weeks, I've had a problem with Thunar hanging. It happens when I drag / drop files. The entire desktop freezes. I can't access any menus, and I have the hour glass pointer. However, videos carry on playing.
If I log in over ssh and do killall thunar then I regain control.
Anyone else having this problem?

Don't you have a network drive? If so, have a look at >this thread<

No network drives, so it shouldn't be hanging waiting for those. I did find quite a few reasons for Thunar to hang while I was googling, but nothing that seemed relevant I think I'm going to install it fresh on the media centre tonight and see if that ever gets the same problem - although that will have a network mapping so perhaps I'll need to follow the advice for that! Thanks for looking, will update if I make any progress.

Are you using the tree view in the side pane? Does it go away if you use the shortcuts view?

Yes I'm mostly using tree view - I think probably every time it crashed because it's my default view.
However, it's not easily reproducible - I should have mentioned this. It happens maybe twice a week, but always when drag-dropping a file from Thunar to a different window. Thinking about it, it's usually a video file because mostly I'm trying to sort things off my oldest drive into the right folders on my newer drive. It hangs before I actually drop the file anywhere. I don't know if it's because they are large files, because they are video, or perhaps it's just a coincidence because that's mostly what I'm dragging around...
I can't find any Thunar specific logs. The only entries in syslog are cron jobs. Not sure what to look for really?

Hmm... It could be Thunar's old large file issue again - hope not. Not sure what to suggest really, apart from trying an alternative.

have you tried running thunar in sudo open a terminal and write sudo thunar enter your pass word then try dragging and dropping files if it works in sudo it maybe a permission problem also have a look at the thunar plugin page it may help to have the plugins installed ... http://users.xfce.org/~benny/projects/t ... ve-plugin/

I wonder if I'm jinxing it when I say it hasn't happened since the last post here. I'm hoping an update fixed it. There have been enough of them!
