I put Skype on the iPhone and iPad the other day. A client and I have been using it for communicating while he’s stateside, and I thought it would be helpful to have it on a portable device. However, the problem starts when you have Skype running as a background task.
It rejects calls.
What you get is an alert, either through the notification system or as a modular window. The modular window lets you answer the call (there is a button) which launches Skype. The notification centre should provide a way to launch Skype and answer, but does not.
So last night, we tied a few tests from a computer to my iPhone. This is what happened:
1 - initiate call on computer
2 - iPhone gets call and notifies me
3 - Skype is launched
4 - Call is dropped - marked as rejected on the computer.
I’ve tried a few settings on the iPhone, but I get the same results every time. Skype on the iOS devices is, clearly, junk.

Which version of iPhone and what version version of iOS are you running Paul?
I installed Skype on Mrs. V's iPhone, which iThink is the original 4, running the latest OS update and it worked straight out of the box. As she's at work now I can't do any poking around, but I'll try and have another test run tonight, and let you know if there was anything special that I had to do to get it to work.
