I just have to figure out how to get my Newton to talk to my MacPro. I think I can do something via Ethernet, but it’s finding the software to do it. I did have partial success before, but as you can probably guess, the software on the computer is now hard to come buy. There is some open source stuff kicking about, but it’s development is intermittent, and sporadic.
If I can, I’ll try this update, as I’d hate to think of my Newton dying on my birthday, but the iPhone is pretty much the successor I was after now that OS 3.0 is out. However, the Newton did do things the iPhone can’t - print, handwriting and proper word processing and spreadsheets (note that NewtonWorks was compatible with AppleWorks - I don’t see Pages or Numbers on the iPhone, Apple....).
Failing getting the Newton to work with the Mac, I could of course try via Windows if I can get the serial cable to play nice. It seems odd that the Newton remained functional for Windows owners way past it’s death on the Apple platform, just because the NCU software continued to work.
