That's actually really interesting. I knew it changed AC into DC but that's just bizarre. Change 240V AC into 240V DC and then split it out into 5V AC and then reconvert it back to 5V DC. LOL! |

The vast majority of recent PSUs do the same thing. Why? Because it's cheaper and more efficient than using a transformer that works at 50Hz. By increasing the frequency by a factor of a thousand, you only need a transformer a fraction of the size. |
