The Samsung Galaxy S III - the first smartphone designed entirely by lawyersI disagree with some of the things he says - I don't think the SIII is an ugly phone at all, and I think 'patent troll' is not the right term to describe Apple (enthusiastically litigatious certainly, but they're not a patent troll by any standard definition of the phrase) - but I rather agree with his basic point; the SIII appears to have been designed not with emphasis on form or function, but with an emphasis on protecting the company from infringing what are, in the main (IMO), pretty ludicrous patents.
Basically, the thing that people always predicted - that the US patent system would stifle and destroy innovation, not protect it - is embodied in the Galaxy SIII. It's a very, very nice phone (IMO) but is it the best phone it could be, or is it the best phone that isn't going to get Samsung sued by anybody?
