I've ordered a bunch of new components which will be arriving today. My retail copy of Win 7 Pro is currently installed on my existing machine, which my young sister has been using whilst I've been away. I need that copy for my new machine, and I've ordered an OEM x64 Home Premium for that machine to continue functioning. However, she's in the middle of A-level exams at the moment, so I need to keep disruption to a minimum. Can I install my retail copy on my new machine without removing it from my existing one? Thus allowing me to get my new machine up and running without interuppting her at this crucial time?

You can usually run without registering for about 30 days, you just get the nag screen. How long do you need?
Sometimes it doesn't let you at all though. No idea why.

Is there any reason you have to have pro over home premium?

Why? There's very little between the two, especially for a home user. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... ts/compare

Yeah, it's MY copy and it's retail. The OEM version I've ordered is for my Dad. It has less to do with the Pro thing - although you never know. Thanks JJ.

Date in bios being wrong i.e way back in the past beyond the 30-day rule.
