Afternoon all,

I have seen people use large antennas to help get a better signal on their pcs. They seem to be USB based.

I'm wondering what they are called and if there are any Mac compatible ones? I quite often fin myself with an overly large laptop bag and just out of range for wifi...

Many thanks,
Ben

They're not wifi antennas exactly, they're complete USB wifi network cards. You certainly couldn't attach an antenna cable to a USB stick and just expect to get better wifi reception. A quick google seems to suggest your best option is bearextender whose kit does seem to be available in the UK.

Ah ha! I really had no idea what they did. I suspected they were either a network card or somehow routed the signal to the wifi card...
