basically, I have a fair few videos that are in MKV format that I would like to convert to AVI so that i can pop it on a memory stick and play it on my blu ray (divx certified) does anyone know of a good program that does this? or has anyone got experience of this as its rather frustrating! |

handbrake seems the obvious one. Assuming it can save in AVI. As a Mac person, I've never need it to do that. Jon |

Super C is the one I always used myself, just cos I could almost guarantee it would work off the bat. Never did try alternatives though... |

I downloaded SUPER, maybe i need a little tutorial as everytime i tried it, the quality would reduce so much that it wasnt worth doing! |

Output sizes never bothered me, so I just kept everything maxed ![]() |

Only time it didn't work for me it seemed to involve a funky audio codec. |

http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/converter would seem an obvious choice. |

before I formatted my pc (first time in about 2 years) I did have divx on, the converter was useless and the transfer was just as pointless the converter would fail after about half way, and I could never get divx web player to work on chrome or firefox, so I dont think I will be installing it again tbh |

I have had problems with DivX Converter before - loss of audio sync and frequent crashes. I've not tried the latest version since I don't want to throw good moeny after bad so YMMV. +1 Handbrake and Super if they will read the input video but they do take an age. Super requires some experimentation to make sure that the settings are correct and that the product runs on the intended system. Also worth a condieration Freemake Video Converter which is pretty foolproof and I've seen Hamster Free Video Converter recommended but which I haven't tested. S |

Ran something through DivX Convertor here on the Mac, and yes, it took a while to process the 45 minute file, but my TV played it back just fine. YMMV. |
