TomTom maps update

Morning all,

I've got someone here who has a TomTom ONE (v4 I think) with what I think is the GO x30 software, he says he bought it from eBay a few years back.

He wants to update the maps, but isn't sure if he should look at purchasing ONE maps or GO maps (and what model of the ONE/GO maps!)

EDIT: The software version is 8.051 if that makes a difference?

Any ideas?

There's a connecter that can be downloaded from the tomtom website that should check the device and tell them which maps are available and will fit on the device. It also installs them and would update the software if appropriate.

The maps aren't cheap though

The problem is that because it doesn't have the right software, TomTom won't do anything with the device :/

The guy does everything by copy and pasting onto the SD card...

Yes, I know. The guy doesn't seem particularly technical, he comes across as being genuine...
