Hullo all,

I have three Macs and I want them to have files and non-machine-dependant settings to be identical...Here are the Macs:
2011 27" iMac running DP Mountain Lion
2011 Mac Mini with 17" display running Lion
2006 13.3" MacBook running Snow Leopard

Files should be somewhat easy...Most sync programs will do files. But I have several things that are machine dependant, for example smcFanControl on the Mac Mini thinks it's on an iMac because thats where the pref files came from...I use GeekTool and while I want all the same info, it needs to be somewhat scaled to the smaller screen...The MacBook is old, running an oldish OS on a 32-bit chip, some apps I have won't work on it...

So, I'm after the best solution...Rsync gets me so far but is rather too fiddly. Chronosync (my current solution) is getting on my nerves (it syncs the iMac and Mac Mini every half hour and pulls focus away from full screen apps, e.g. movies) and generally isn't very elegant...

Anyone do this or have any ideas?

Many thanks,
Ben

ChromoSync can be customised to sync as often as you want and, in my experience, is much the best app for data syncing.

Syncing settings is more difficult. iCloud would help, but not much use on your Snowy machine. I’m not sure there’s an adequate alternative.
