It really depends what you're intending to use it for. You'll get iplayer and flash through it, but Netflix, Spotify etc have all said they don't intend to support it.

They're a solid little tablet, not bad for surfing the net etc at home.
They're a shedload better than any cheap Android tablet you can get on the high street.

It's not an iPad but it does a good job. I'll quite often pick mine up rather than grabbing the iPad if I need to check the web for something.

Obvious question - how do they score on the 'slightly cheaper than the Nexus 7' scale though?

Exactly, TBH the Nexus 7 is probably a much better bet.

This was my first thought.

Don't know as I haven't bought a Nexus yet.

Although as the Nexus is out of stock everywhere & the playbook is £70 cheaper then I'd say it's still a good bet.

I'm going to add my totally unqualified opinion:

I imagine the Playbook is a fabulous piece of hardware for the money, but no one is buying them because they're not Android.

So, it depends what you want. If you want a nicely engineered tablet to browse with then you'll get a lot for your money. If you want millions of apps, then maybe not a good buy.

I bought the HP which runs WebOS. I love it and it did what I wanted right out the box, but there's not much available for it. I don't care - I just wanted browse and watch video.

Thanks all. I've had a hold of both the nexus 7 and the playbook. The latter seems a lot more solid, but the actula hardware of the nexus is better.

Undecided.
