I recieved an email from Amazon about Windows 8 upgrade prices and when I clicked through to see the prices were as follows

W8 pro upgrade £49.99
W8 pro upgrade N version £189.99

something tells me the N version is not going to be a big seller

I realise what the argument will be but it strikes me as amusing that the N version (which is missing stuff) is vastly more expensive than the standard version.
Anyone would think Microsoft where trying to make a mockery of the EU's judgement about its browser inclusion.

As a matter of interest what is the N version missing?

I thought it was Internet Explorer that had been removed.

If I have this right Microsoft are basically saying "here's the choice: cuddly bunnies and lots of chocolate for £50; angry bears and sharp pointy sticks for £190. Your choice. "

Seems very odd.

Yup it ms complying with the EU ruling that they have to offer a version without a media player but still showing how stupid that ruling is.

Whilst these are figures from MS directly, they have stated that less than 2% of users actually use WMP as their main player, most use something else. If that's true then the EU judgement really is pissing in the wind.

Just a reminder, the free media centre upgrade and the £25 Pro offers end today!

I bought and installed 8 Pro yesterday, but I'm still waiting for the media centre upgrade email. This is on my media centre PC so it would be good to have!

I think the upgrade key needs to be entered by end of day today. Don't delay.
