Dukduckgo hit the news about 6 months ago as a non-tracking alternative to Google. Their traffic increased dramatically over the summer.

Woefully inferior to Google, even Bing.

It is Google...

It uses an unpersoanlised set of Google results, AFAIK.

I wasn't commenting on the quality of the results, but the lack of features.

I'm not entirely sure what 'features' a web search engine should have other than 'I type stuff in, it lists websites related to that.'

I used to think that, but it's amazing how quickly you miss them when you even use Bing over Google.

The top ones that spring to mind are types of pages to search, location based searching, time-based searching (past 24 hours, year etc), image search (with similar ways to narrow the search), not to mention all the extra stuff Google displays down the side (for example if you search "Eiffel Tower" Google shows you a map, picture and information from Wikipedia all without having to click anything, it does it for people, countries and other things too).

Google will even answer questions for you. For example "how tall is the Eiffel Tower" yields an answer of 324m.

The only two things that it lacks for me, are the shopping list and secondly the time sort ie last 24 hours.

I started using it a few months ago, but I found myself going back to Google for many things.
