Just arrived:-
New toy to play with - pretty much designed to turn a HDMI-capable TV into a smart TV. In other words an Android tablet without it's own screen. Also got a Measy Air Mouse for it.

Dual core 1.2GHz A9 CPU, 1 gig ram, 8 gigs NAND flash ROM, b/g/n wifi - running 4.1 Jellybean.

Also has a quad core Mali 400 GPU (whatever that is) good enough for simple games and PS2 emulators.

I'll report back, once I've tried it out.

So far, so good.

No issues setting up, and it connected to my network easily. I've done a bit of browsing and such, tried out a few videos - it copes very well with 720p and 1080p content on both Youtube and the Micro SD card.

There are a few forums and such dedicated to hacking and rooting the device, to get the best out of it - gunna give them a look too.

Where did you order it from?

I got it on feebay, with the air mouse.

You can get them from Geekbuying, but they were more expensive. If you're thinking about it go for the MK808, not the MK802 or UG802 - they're single core and less capable.

There are some reports of crappy wifi and 1080p problems, but mine seems fine. Although there are custom ROMs available too.

Should something that doesn't have a TV tuner be allowed to have TV in the name: google TV and apple TV included.

OK by derevation from greek tele and latin visionem, it would be allowed (unless you're a language pedant) as it is sort of seeing at a distance. But by the modern usage?

In addition to "seeing at a distance", it's also something that you plug into and watch on your TV. Your remote control could flick from BBC1 to Apple or Google.

When you power it up, it shows a Google TV splash screen.

I agree with JJ though. You can watch Catchup TV, Youtube or Netflix on it; so a tuner is increasingly irrelevant.

Not sure yet - there is an issue with the latest flash on 4.1 Jellybean, and I know some people have reverted to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but I'll test it later.
