I'm pretty sure the 110 inch set wont be OLED though. |

I wouldn't be so sure. Some of the development at the likes of Hitachi is pretty awesome. |

a 110cm screen is like four 55cm screens in a rectangle (not quite, but roughly). Who the hell has room for a TV set that size? |

Um, this is 110 inches, not cm, so about 2.5 times the size! |

Yes but the point still stands. That's a ludicrous size for a television. |

We've had this discussion before - you block the living room window with it. Then rearrange your entire living room... ![]() |

55" is way too big. 32" is more suitable for my needs. Hopefully it won't be too many years before that's available at a reasonable price. |

IMO very few people have homes large enough to accomdate such a TV. Average house size is 900 sq ft. That means around 30ft x 30 ft. Recommended viewing distance for 50" is about 7ft so 100" means you probably need to sit about 14ft away from the TV. That's about half the length of the downstairs floor space not including things like furniture and internal walls. Certainly for me, I'd have to be in the next room if the TV were up against the wall (or indeed window). |

What would you consider a "reasonable price"? They are already less than £200, and that's not just bottom-of-the-range models. In real terms, that's cheaper than a small colour CRT set cost back in the 80s. |

For gaming (rather than TV viewing) I would like to go larger than my current 42" but certainly no bigger than around 55". |

OLEDs hadn't been mentioned since the start of the thread, so I thought we were just talking about size and windows now. At the moment, never mind the price I'm not sure their longevity has been proven. They've been proven on mobiles and other portables, but TVs are often on for very much longer. Like, hundreds of times longer. |

I think that once the TV gets down to £1500 I think sales will take off. Then once they get below £600 then it will start to become an everyday item. Though I think that it will be the combination of 4k and OLED will be something special. |
