Is your expensive new smartphone actually a bit too large? Do you feel a bit foolish actually making calls with it? Are the number of people who shout 'Oi! Dom Jolly!' at you in the street getting you down? Well, HTC have the answer for you. what you need to make your 'bigger is always better' phablet really useful is.. another phone, that looks like it fell out of the 1990's, that can only function by talking the the phone you just bought that turned out to be as ergonomic as an ironing board. |

It's common for companies to offer a choice for consumers which surely can't be bad. There is one company that let's you choose between black and white phones. |

Yesterday my new phone felt huge and my old phone normal. Today my old one feels tiny and my new one feels normal. It still fits in my pocket, it's a tad thinner and it weighs less. I have no problems with it now I have it, but I was worried before I bought it. Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2 |

I have to admit I'm bemused by this veneration of 'choice' in splendid isolation. Choice of itself is not a virtue. It simply presents the opportunity to find virtue. People are faced with choices that present no virtuous option every day, we even have a term for it - Morton's fork. 'Choice' does not guarantee satisfaction or happiness. I don't always need a choice if the one available option is satisfactory. Choice, under those circumstances, is just wasting my time. I'll give you a concrete example. When the buses in Manchester were deregulated, it was decided companies could run in competition on the same routes if they wished, and that companies could set their own prices. It was great, they said. Passengers would have choice, and through that choice, quality of service would evolve. The actual result? Nobody knew on getting onto a bus on any given route what the ticket price would be. People would find it cost more to go from A to B than it did to go from B to A. Some companies offered return tickets, some didn't. So everybody had to ask every time they got on a bus how much it cost to get to their destination. Customer satisfaction went down, the buses spent longer at each stop so punctuality suffered.. general frustration ensued. In the end the local transport authority intervened to enforce uniform pricing. 'Choice' was removed. Things improved. 'Choice' is only as good as the options and information presented. |

The illusion of choice as one marklar77 used to say. |

I always cite toilet rolls in the great choice illusion. I just need a reasonably soft paper to wipe my bottom. I don't need or want to have to make a choice between quilted, triple-ply, super absorbent, koala-friendly or angel down. I just want a good basic bog roll. If I am confronted by a wall of toilet rolls, I simply walk away. Too. Much. Choice. |

I research items all the time, then consider if it's worth the cheapest price for the 'functionality' I want in that instance (it could even be an ebook ![]() ![]() |

All I want is a bog roll where the two sheets don't separate so the serrated edges don't match up any more Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2 |

Toothpaste must be the worst. Colgate's marketing and product department must be on drugs - I once tried to count the number of different Colgate toothpastes (I stopped counting after 12). Who the hell needs more than 12 variations of toothpaste? And that's just one brand, Aquafresh are getting as bad. And you can never remember the one you last used - was it Colgate Active? No, I think it was Advanced... Or maybe Sensitive with Cool Crystals. Oh, f**k it, I'll just get the cheapest!! Too much choice can be a bad thing. |

Not when it comes to Acer laptops. Those range from a ridiculous Intel Celery with 6Gb of RAM and an enormous HDD to a fully tricked out ultrabook. Both at very reasonable prices! I don't know how the company is still in business tbh, but I love them ![]() |

I opt for the largest cheapest roll possible. My arse is not a connoisseur of bog rolls. As for my phone it is actually smaller than my previous phone. When I switched from my old brick, Sony Ericsson P910i to the iPhone 5 it is half the size. The only real choice for me was amount of memory to get. |

Mine is a bit too big for the phone side, too small on the "smart" side (Galaxy SIII). A Nexus 7/ 7" Windows RT tablet with phone facilities and a bluetooth headset would suit me better. |

Wouldn't you be better off with two devices and tethering them? That way you could have a small phone most of the time and then a larger screen when you need that extra space. |

My phone is black, too big for my pocket and seems to be attached to the wall by a wire. |
