Looking at a gigabit switch for home eg GS608 and some cables (pref in different colours for colour coding). Noticed that Cat6 cables are out and about. Any advantage to me over Cat5?

CAT5e for patch cables / running to the PC, CAT 7 for trunking / in-the-wall cabling etc. running between patch panels, CAT6 is pretty much ignored, it came out in the 90s and was astronomically expensive, so CAT5e came along, which could do the patch-panel to switch or wall socket to device (or for small home networks, for switch to device).
