Damn, I need to go to the Apple shop this evening to pick my repaired mac mini up. Anyone know if they broadcast the streams in the shops? I'd rather not be having to fight my way through a goggle-eyed crowd.

Not sure but if you are in a store stream it to a safari window.

The demonstration of the next iteration of OSX looks interesting.

D'oh! It needs QuickTime. I'm not deliberately installing malware on my tablet.

New Mac Pro!
I want one.
I don't need one.
But I want one.

The next Mac Pro is round! And can handle 4k video output. It is also small, looks very portable.

Well, I've sat through all 2 hours of it only to discover that iOS7 won't actually run on my iPod touch (4th Gen), it'll only support the latest 5th Gen model!! Bugger, major fail on my part there!

But, what a great set of new features iOS7 has and it looks absolutely gorgeous - well, it was overseen by Jony Ives, so it was bound to be beautifully designed. It does make the current iOS 6 look terribly old fashioned doesn't it? Love the layered effect with transparency, something that doesn't come across in the photos, but if you tilt the phone, the backgrounds kind of move in relation to your movement. Very clever stuff. The Weather app in particular uses these tricks to good effect with moving clouds and "real" snow/lightning! Yes, it's window dressing, but done with great style - there are some genuinely useful features like the better multitasking switcher, better tabs in Safari, better music app with iTunes Radio (streaming radio).

New Macbook airs, available today, plus a lovely new Mac Pro with a frankly stunning design *drools* - wow, it was about time that they rehauled the design of the case, but what they've come up with it brilliant, looks like a games console - perhaps what the PS4 or X-Box One should have been?

And look how much smaller it is compared to the current model...

Image

Not convinced by OS X 10.9 Mavericks - yes, whoever thought of that name should get a good, hard slap across the head - it's a good solid update, but somehow I was expecting it to take its design cues from the iOS 7 redesign, and it doesn't really. Glad we've got rid of the fake leather and wood UIs though. Headline features seem to be Tabbed Finder Windows, multiple display support, Maps and iBooks for your Mac. I expect Jonny Ive has been too busy with iOS 7 to completely overhaul OS X too, so expect a major revise in OS X 11 next year.

Wow, I couldn't find anything on the UK site, never thought of looking on the US site. Looks fantastic - not sure about the Flash storage though - yes, it may be faster, but will it last as long as a traditional hard drive. Has lost a bit of the expandability options that the Mac Pro was famous for, no great shocks there - if the storage fails, it'll be a trip back to Apple instead of whacking in another hard drive yourself. I guess that's the price you pay for raw speed in a smaller case.

It's lost the onboard expandability yes, and by chucking everything off board... Well I'm not sure if that's a great idea or not at the moment.
Certainly, you're not limited by the running out of drive bays anymore.
The sort of market they're aiming this at already seems to be moving to using Thunderbolt more and more. An intriguing move.
3 4k monitors too? Should be enough for most, and presumably things will only improve with future iterations.

Actually, looking at the pages on Apple's site again, it looks like it's Flash storage but mounted onto a PCIe card of some sort - is that a new thing? - so if it fails, presumably you can just slot in a new card? When they first said Flash storage, I thought they meant soldered onto the logic board like they do in the MacBook Pro and Air. Maybe not such a bad thing then.
