I'm hoping someone can help me out here.

My old keyboard/mouse combi was playing up and the letters on the board were worn too so I changed a couple of days ago. I replaced the Logitech 520 set with a Microsoft set.

The thing is, on my old kit I could look at a pic on my screen and if I moved the mouse wheel it would magnify the pic. The new M$ one won't !

If anyone has any ideas how I can fix this I would be very grateful

Does the wheel actually work OK to scroll?

I don't recall installing any specific drivers for my MS setup, but Logitech tend to provide all kinds of software for theirs. I'm guessing you either need new drivers, or the old software is conflicting.

Its usually plug and play these days though. What OS?

Is there possibly a modifier key that needs to be set or a driver that needs installing (as suggested)?

Thanks guys.......

When I first installed the Logitech set it was recognised without installing any other software. The same applied to the M$ set on Sunday.

I'm looking at the pics with windows photo viewer. Nothing has changed apart from the new board and mouse and yes the wheel works perfectly.

I'm running Windows 7. Admittedly the Logitech kit was more expensive than the M$ stuff but I would have thought the mouse functions would have been the same.

ok I use Win 7 , viewer and an MS mouse and it works for me ( scrolling to change image size ).

Have you checked mouse, under control panel and looked at the settings, drivers etc?

Hi Alun

I did check the mouse settings in control panel but saw no obvious changes that I could make. The wheel tab gives nothing to change and the driver update is greyed out.

I think I'm just going to have to live with it.

Does the mouse actually show as an MS one in device manager?

Its worth downloading the intellipoint drivers from MS and trying them.

I found a solution guys. Not ideal but simple and effective. Thinking outside the box.

I'm using the new keyboard, the real reason for having to change, with the new dongle and the old mouse with the old dongle.

It works and will sort my problem. Why don't things just work ???????????

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to this guys. I know it's a 2 min post for you but believe me, it really is appreciated.

Paul

I normally zoom in/out using the Ctrl+mousewheel.
