Post subject: | router for 10+ devices |
Hello, long time no speak.. I am after some advice on a router/switch that can handle lots of devices currently using talktalks [LIFTED] router as I finally switched to fibre, so now I have a nice white BT modem on my wall and the talktalk thing next to it. it was ok streaming 10GB+ films to my tv, but nothing else at the same time. having 3 users on different devices just browsing the internet would make it painfully slow. now however I have 1 main computer, 2 laptops, an additional computer(might become a server otherwise going out the window), 4 phones, 1 ipad, and now 2 tv's capable of streaming. 11 devices all together, and when family come over it all goes to hell. so I need a wireless router that is capable of handling all these devices (albeit not all at the same time) that can stream internally and also allow us to use the internet at the same time. any idea's? |

Bandwidth. You need bandwidth. Are you attempting all of this over wifi? |

due to the positioning of the master socket and bt modem, this is all over wifi ![]() to think there is only 3 of us in this house lol. problem is that the only fixed objects are the computers and telly's and its just unpractical to wire these. |

Could you set up additional wifi routers? If they are set up on different frequencies they should not clash and then you get double or treble the bandwidth with two or three wifi routers. |

Your fibre has more bandwidth than wireless can cope with, especially if you have neighbours or cordless phones using the same frequencies. I hate them, but if you really really can't run a cable then consider power line adaptors for the PC? |
