Apparently iOS 7 will be out that day or the day after. The iPhone 5s or whatever it will be called will be out the following week, if past performance is anything to go by.

As to what will be announced I will look forward to it. The big things were announced at the iOS keynote, like FaceTime Audio etc.

Press gossip says Apple shop staff have been told no time off between September 15th and 30th, so you'd assume it's some time in that period.

Yeah, there's been nothing in the betas that hasn't been seen before. Doesn't mean the hardware won't be interesting. Although the last couple of times it kind of has't been..

Could it also be availability of the new Mac Pro or is it bit early for that?
I noticed an advert in the cinema for it.

I am not in the market for a phone this year, but will be looking forward to the upgrade in iOS 7. I might consider a Mac Pro next time, it takes me months to decide. There must be a few other announcements to come out as well.

Maybe not 'on sale as of today', but it's certainly due an announcement of when it will be available.

First look at the new fingerprint pad on the new iPhone 5s after images of the mobile are leaked:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... eaked.html

Quote:
The images appear to confirm rumours that the new model has an embedded fingerprint sensor in the home button and will be called the iPhone5S.

Image

Code uncovered describes a user touching the Home button with their thumb.

A fingerprint then appears on the screen, that changes colour - presumably to signify a match - and the 'recognition is complete'.

It is believed the silver metal around the home button may form part of the censor.

Apologies for the Daily Mail link, an interesting development if true though. Would help put a stop to iPhones being a target for thieves if you have to scan your fingerprint to unlock the phone. Then again, they might chop your finger off to take with them too!!

Fingerprint scanning might be included in this upgrade but it will come eventually.

Hopefully not, since that wouldn't work and never has outside Hollywood. Plus stealing a phone probably won't attract too much police attention. GBH to random strangers in the street probably would.

That assumes that it will work with a cold severed finger. I suspect that Apple will be forced to stick in a temperature/pulse sensor if there are a spate of finger removals, especially if they are conducted in the street.

Most finger scanners don't work with severed digits. They either rely on heat, which obviously isn't going to work beyond a few minutes, or GSR which changes immediately the finger isn't attached to the rest of you. So stealing a finger along with the phone is a pretty short term fix, especially given you've also got the problem of picking the right finger in the first place.

You'd do much by threatening someone that you'd cut their fingers off unless they unlocked their phone then gave it to you. I'd imagine that would have a massively higher chance of success.

They got a finger print scanner to work on mythbusters by making rubber gloves from a cast of someone's hand and wearing them.

Lol!

It is easy to solve that and that could be by automatically requiring a finger print every few minutes which is not a problem as it is not as difficult to do as passwords can be much longer and so more frustrating to do every minute or so.

Much harder to do during a street robbery!
