We've run into a snag with our medication ordering process. The clinical software creates an order but there's no way for the third party company to detect it or process it. One option is to print to a TXT file and to a CSV file to see if they can produce a workaround.

I'm running into problems. Using the active printer connected via LPT1, print to file just crashes it. Print to MS image writer produces a beautiful TIFF (am looking into getting it read and processed by OCR software but it is longwinded). Print to MS XPS just crashes the computer. Adding a Generic Text printer does nothing.

Ideas?

Can you print to pdf? That might be easier on the OCR as some might print a layered PDF which is what you would need to extract the text

I'd have to install some PDF software but not a major issue. The problem is that whilst I'm computer savvy, I'm the only such person in a building of 20-25 employees. Whatever I do needs to be essentially foolproof.
