My Lion Mac won't install Flash. Firefox and Safari won't load Flash content and say that the plug-in is too old, which is true, I haven't used the iMac for months. I then let them install Flash updates, but it always aborts the install with the message that the installation could not complete. No error codes or messages, just installation aborted. I also tried downloading directly from the Adobe website. Safari and Firefox (as well as Lion) are all patched and up to date. |

Have you tried completely removing flash then installing the latest version? Can you run the flash uninstaller? Instructions and download here. |

Finally had time to fire up the iMac at home (plus daughter no. 2 is visiting and moaning she can't play any YouTube). The uninstall, then reinstall seems to have done the trick, thanks. But the "General failure" is not a good way to help track down where the problem was... |

Glad it worked. As for the General Failure - it's Adobe software, you weren't expecting useful feedback were you? |

Youtube shouldn't insist on Flash being present anymore. Glad it's fixed though. |

You can opt in to the YouTube HTML 5 beta. http://www.youtube.com/html5?gl=GB This is "Google Beta" - basically it will probably work but they can't bolt adverts onto it in the same way as they could with Flash. |
