It's quite true about the cars.. Though give me a new Civic over a Ferrari any day!

Do you like the lights on the back of the new ones? I'm not a fan - they make the whole thing look naff IMO.

I have heard a rumour that some PC users look inside the cases of their machines. Do you think that is true?

:?

I heard some Mac users actually turn their machines on. Although a lot are contented with just having the logo on show. ;)

I can confirm the truth of that rumour.

Is it also true that some PCs are actually used to do real work? Or are they just games consoles in a bigger box? I have often wondered.

;)

Mine is a glorified web browser / media centre. I do play the occasional game, but I presume Mah-jong is available on OS other Linux?

However, it does spend half it's life with the lid off and is full of flashing lights. It also has stickers, although I've just realised the AMD one is completely inappropriate since I upgraded to core 2 duo. I'd better peel that off and stick it on the one behind the sofa

As to "real work" - most of the "real work" I've done requires a text editor and Kermit. I could be just as productive on a BBC Micro!

PCs are widely used to do “work”, but the only apps that anyone uses are those in Microsoft Office. And it seems Microsoft is doing it’s very best to rectify that by introducing a completely unusable interface:

That looks bewildering. The idea of a UI to help people, not confuse the life out of them.

Surely this can't be true. PC users seem obsessed with performance why would anyone care if all they run is office?

Probably because Office is so full of unnecessary features it needs a fast machine to run it.
