My current backup strategy is a mess.
Without getting into the nitty-gritty of it, I've just had to wipe drives and start again from scratch.
This got me to thinking about getting some sort of large capacity storage device, something like a NAS or some sort of other large capacity external storage device.
So, with that in mind, anyone have any recommendations before I start properly looking in to this?

I've got two WD Mybook Live drives and have never had a problem with them.

I sync my notebook with my iMac and they are both backed up to external drives and a NAS. The notebook is then backed up to the clouds with Carbonite.

I use Time Machine and Backblaze for my backups.

I'm not going to use an online backup storage. I'm looking for physical storage that'll be in my own care.
There's a Drobo NAS that I've seen but it only supports up-to 3TB drives, which is a bit of a missed opportunity I think.

Thinking about it, is it only one computer that you're backing up from? If so, what about an external USB drive? Cheaper than a network drive but I'm not sure about speed, (as in whether it's an issue)

Unless you're using gigabit ethernet at home, USB 3 will probably be just as quick as network storage, if not quicker. This is assuming the mac you're backing up from has USB 3 of course.
