Keynote is at 6PM BST on June 2nd (next Monday). I'm already engaged, damn :).

According to no other than the FT, along with the usual OS X And iOS updates, Apple are to announce a home automation system based on iBeacons, which will no doubt please the likes of Belkin and Phillips no end. Personally, it feels a bit of an odd one to me, I'm not sure how it 'fits' with Apple. Plus you'd assume it initially would be US only anyway, given differing electrical systems around the world...

You just know that people are going to be making big announcements of Apple releasing an iWatch - or whatever - before WWDC. Probably iOS 8 as well.

The latter is actually pretty much certain - announcements/previews of future OS developments is exactly what WWDC is about. I think there's s small chance that, if such a thing as an iWatch exists, it will be revealed there because they'll need people to write apps that interface with it's 'smart' functions whatever they may be but I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah WWDC is all about the software. They don't really focus on hardware much. Anyway. I'm off to a meetup in Newcastle to watch the keynote :-)

I think we can close the betting on iOS 8 being revealed...

It will all be about BeatsOS this year.

So the 8 is just a set of twin bongos seen from directly above?

That makes sense, or it would do if I could visualise it, which I can't. (8+\

Today, Apple set a course for its next decade of design — apparently.
"OS X Yosemite is more than an operating system. It's an unassuming little manifesto, a set of graphic standards that will likely guide the development of the next decade of UI design at Apple."

OK, haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing yet, but on the OSX front I kind of like the new look, I really really like the whole 'continuity' system and iCloud drive might finally have caught up with DropBox after god knows how many failed attempts. Assuming it'll either be free or less than £20, I'm already sold. I'm also really, really, REALLY interested in Swift but the developer pages on that are currently utterly swamped.

EDIT : There's a free iBook on Swift

Update : I can't seem to find the Xcode 6 beta on the developer portal, which you (obviously) need to give Swift a try. Patience is a virtue as they say :).

From a dev point of view... Wow.

Icloud storage is $.99 per month for 20GB. Free for 5GB.

Yup. Haven't seen the details yet but the sales pitch definitely fits 'game changer'.

Dropbox gives you the same free space (I think Box might give you more) but the minimum they will sell you is 100GB, which they charge $9.99 a month for. For average joe consumer, Apple's offer is probably better value.

I watched it, but really got narked by the constant use of the word “super” as a prefix. “It’s super exciting” - everyone said it to the point where it became meaningless.

If they wanted to do hyperbole, I wish they could have used a more varied language. It got super repetitive and super annoying.

All that said - I do think that someone has gone and knocked heads together in a board room. A lot of what was announced - closer iOS and OSX integration, the whole “continuity” concept was, in my mind, something that should have been done ages ago. I’m glad they’ve got round to it.

I am also glad to see the return of iDisk - albeit in a slightly different form - but able to share any document. They lost traction to DropBox by dropping iDisk.

Also Swift. An Apple engineer frond of mine tells me that I should find that useable. I’ve tried in the past, but have struggled with Objective C. I’m told that Swift should feel more natural to me (I mostly work in JavaScript and PHP when I’m using my coding head).

So, I felt, pretty good.
