Making a VM from an offline Windows 2000 Pro disk

Hi all,
I need to make a VM from an offline Windows 2000 Professional SP4 disk.
The hardware is kaput, but the disk is fine.
I don't mind which VM....Virtualbox, or VMWare, or other....

Any thoughts as to how I can do this?
Urgently need to do this for a client.

Slap the disk in another machine.
Copy the physical disk to a VM using vmconverter
Build a VM and attach the disk you've just made
Have a cup of tea
