APPLE-SA-2014-09-29-1 OS X bash Update 1.0

OS X bash Update 1.0 is now available and addresses the following:

OS X bash Update 1.0 may be obtained from the following webpages:
<http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1767> – OS X Lion
<http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1768> – OS X Mountain Lion
<http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1769> – OS X Mavericks

Eve if you don't know the ins and outs of the 'Shellshock' bug, if you've got remote access switched on on your Mac it will be worth applying the patch. If you don't forward any ports to your mac through your router and your Mac isn't in the routers DMZ, you're probably OK but there's always 'better safe than sorry'.

If none of this means anything to you.. sadly, it might be time you learned..

Hmm, doesn't show up in the App Store/Software update yet. Try again later I guess.

Given the reliability of Apple's recent software updates, forgive me if I wait a few days.

You can patch it manually if you don't want to wait for Apple's fix. The process I used can be found part way down the following page:

Err... I don't know if it ever will. The download isn't exactly complicated.

I know it's not complicated but Apple have generally moved away from manual downloads - the majority of users are unlikely to seek this out and apply it unless shows up in Software Update.

None of that stops you doing it now you are aware.

I am indeed aware. What stops me is that my Mac is at home and switched off while I am at work.
On the plus side, at this particular moment it is totally safe from the shellshock bug as a consequence.
