I'm looking at replacing my current (2010) laptop and my tablet. I use the tablet a lot, but it is under powered Atom Z2000 series and the laptop is too big and has poor battery life and lives in the cellar office... That means I hardly use it and I don't do a lot of things, because the tablet isn't ideal for typing and it doesn't have all images and documents and it isn't really suited to large documents, unless I plug in a keyboard and monitor...
So I'm looking for a more portable laptop or hybrid solution.
So far I am down to the Surface Pro 3 or the Lenovo Yoga 2 or 3 Pro. The Yoga 3 Pro looks awesome, but uses the Core M Boswell chip, but there are currently no real reviews that talk about performance, other than to say it is much faster than an Atom, but it is crap at gaming (I'd hope so at that price and no sh1t Sherlock respectively). Given that the Yoga 3 Pro comes in one version, at the same price point as the old Core i7 Haswell Yoga 2 Pro, I am unsure what to think of it, and I haven't found any decent reviews yet.
I bought the Yoga 2 (non-Pro) for the youngest daughter last month and it was very nice (Core i5, 1TB hard driver (Pro has 256 or 512GB SSD), 8GB RAM and Full HD display). The 2 Pro I am looking at has a QHD+ (3200 x 1400) resolution and a 512GB SSD, which is a couple of hundred Euros cheaper than the Yoga 3 Pro.
The alternative is the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, which is a tablet + keyboard cover. The stylus is something I really like - I have one on my current tablet and it is great for taking notes, much better than the rubber nipple jobbies you get for iOS and Android devices (with the exception of the Galaxy Note series). Otherwise the specs match up, retina display 12" instead of 13.3", SSD, Core i5, 8GB RAM.
Anyone used the SP3 or Yoga 2 and can give any guidance? Any other options for a hybrid that I've overlooked?
I'll be using it for note taking Lightroom work with RAW files (offloaded to cloud or NAS and keeping JPGs on the device), Office and general browsing. I'm thinking the Yoga 2 is probably the most practical, but a little more cumbersome, the Surface is better for note taking, but would need a dock for serious work.

Can't offer much here, but if the Yoga 2 Pro has a HDD like the Yoga 2, I'd avoid it personally. HDD's can make things feel sluggish compared to an SSD.

The Yoga 2 Pro comes exclusively with SSDs. The Yoga 2 comes with hybrid drives (1TB HDD with integrated 8GB SSD).
I eventually went for the Surface Pro 3. Better in tablet mode and more portable, plus the N-Trig stylus system for note taking. That is something I love on my old Samsung ATIV tablet.
