Synology NAS - 214 Play

Well had one of these bought for me over Xmas and installed the Hard Disks (2 x 3TB - mirrored)
Started playing with it and there is a lot to learn
Eventually hope to have all my data accessible from anywhere#

If anyone has used a Synology NAS and has any tips then all will be gratefully received

I have two

.

First thing I'd suggest is don't configure the thing that sends you email alerts - they are far too naggy.
Also the iTunes server is no use so don't bother with it - it works on an old version of the protocol most devices don't support any more.

I have a 214play

The plex server works well.

I also run a 3rd party ubiquiti controller on mine - also good.

The bittorrent service works well but bogs down with more than 1 or 2 downloads.

I also use mine to automatically back up all photos from iDevices which is a god send.
